Social Structure

Sociologists study the largely invisible social structures that broadly coordinate human activities in predictable ways. The social structures they study can involve as few as two people or billions.

Social structures encompass at least four interrelated components- statuses, roles, groups, and institutions.

Social structures shape people's sense of themselves, their relationships with others, and the opportunities and barriers they encounter in life.
