GH Mead approach to social role

The systematic use of the concept of social role was made by G H Mead in his work 'Mind, Self and Society'. In this roles are depicted as the outcome of a process of interaction that is tentative and creative. Social psychology was primarily concerned with how children learn about society and develop their own social beings by role taking .In adult social behavior, individuals were also thought to use role taking to model their own role behavior. Every role involves interaction with other roles. They are always testing their conception leading people to change or modify their own role behavior.
